The terms that apply when you use the app.
Effective date: 7 November 2026 · Version: 1.1
GratisParkering ("the app") is provided by VIBECODE AS, org. no. 938 738 750, Gjerdrums vei 12D, 0484 Oslo, Norway ("we"). The app shows free parking in Norway and helps you find and navigate to it. The spots come from public registers and from users. The app also shows street parking: in Oslo from the city's open data, and elsewhere where users have added it (see section 3). By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data.
Parking information in the app comes from other users and from public registers and open data (see section 13). We moderate what users share, but we cannot check every spot on site. Information may be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Rules can change, signs can be moved, and a spot may be occupied, temporarily closed, or subject to time limits, fees, resident-only parking or other conditions the app does not show. "Free" at a spot means a user or a register reported that the spot can be used without payment. It is not a guarantee.
Some customer parking may be sponsored by the business that owns it. It is labelled "Sponset" (sponsored). Sponsorship does not change the rules we show for the spot.
Street parking is indicative. The app shows street parking as lines along the curb. In Oslo most lines are made automatically from Oslo kommune's (the City of Oslo's) open data on parking rules. We do not check them on site. We fetch new data about once a week and read the rules automatically. Users can also add street parking with a photo of the sign, including outside Oslo. Those lines are labelled "Lagt inn av en bruker" (added by a user), and the moderator checks them against the sign photo, but not on site. The lines may therefore be out of date, incomplete or wrong. Temporary signs, roadworks, events, snow clearing, winter parking and other temporary rules are not in the data. The app also does not show every ban or time limit, and it does not always know whether you need a parking disc (P-skive) or whether a space is for residents only. "Free" on a street line only means that the data, as we read it, shows no fee at that time. It is no guarantee that parking there is allowed, that it is free, or that a space is available. You can tell us in the app if a line does not match the sign, and we may hide lines.
You are responsible for parking legally. Always read signs, road markings and pay machines on site before you park, and follow the Road Traffic Act, the sign regulations, the parking regulations and local rules. Signs on site always take precedence over what the app shows. This includes street parking: if the sign says something other than the line on the map, the sign applies. If in doubt, find another place. Do not use the app in a way that distracts you from traffic. Set your route before you drive.
We are not liable for parking charges, control fees, towing costs, fines or any other claims or losses arising from parking at a spot or along a street line you found in the app, or from information in the app being wrong, out of date or incomplete. This includes information we show from public registers and open data. This applies to the extent permitted by mandatory law, see section 10.
When you share a spot (location, note, photo, tags, rules), add street parking (stretch, sign photo, rules, note to the moderator) or answer whether a street line is right, these rules apply: - Content must be accurate and honest. Only share spots you have good reason to believe are free and legal, and answer only from what you have seen yourself. - Prohibited: content that is illegal, offensive, harassing, discriminatory, sexual, violent or misleading, advertising or spam, and content that infringes anyone's rights. - Photos: take the photo yourself. Avoid legible number plates and recognisable faces, and don't photograph private areas you are not allowed to photograph. We decline or blur photos showing such details. - Moderation: every new spot and street stretch is reviewed before it is shown to others. We may approve content, remove a note or photo, decline or delete content. - Reporting: you can report a spot from its page, report a street line from its card, and write to [email protected] about anything else. We handle reports of offensive or illegal content as quickly as possible, normally within 24 hours. - Breaches: if you break these rules, we may remove your content, remove earned rewards and suspend or close your account, temporarily or permanently. - Disagree? If we decline something you shared, you see it under Profile → Dine plasser. If you disagree that we declined or removed content or closed your account, write to [email protected] and we will look at the case again.
You keep the copyright in the photos and text you upload. By sharing content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, worldwide licence to store, display, adapt (for example crop, downscale or blur), publish and distribute it in the app and related services in order to operate, improve and promote GratisParkering. We may sublicense it to subcontractors who help us run the service. The licence lasts as long as the content is in the service, including approved spots and street stretches that remain without attribution after you delete your account. You confirm that you have the right to grant this licence and that the content does not infringe anyone's rights.
The app is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will always work, be error-free or that its information is correct. This includes information from public registers and open data, such as street parking. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our liability is in any case limited to what you paid for the subscription in the last 12 months. These limits do not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence, or where mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.
We may change these terms. For material changes, we notify you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, and you may stop using the service before then. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
Norwegian law applies. We prefer to resolve disagreements directly, so write to [email protected]. As a consumer, you can get help from the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) and bring the case before the Consumer Complaints Committee (Forbrukerklageutvalget). Disputes that are not resolved go to the ordinary courts. As a consumer, you can always sue and be sued where you live.
The app uses the open data below. We have adapted it, for example by reading the rules and drawing lines along the curb. The publishers of the data do not endorse the app and are not responsible for how we show the data. - Parkeringsregisteret (the Norwegian parking register; many of the parking spots): Contains data under the Norwegian licence for Open Government data (NLOD) distributed by Statens vegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration). - Street parking in Oslo (Parkeringsbestemmelser): Contains data under the Norwegian licence for Open Government data (NLOD) distributed by Oslo kommune, Bymiljøetaten (City of Oslo, Agency for Urban Environment). - Road network and sign data from the National Road Database (NVDB), used for street names and to mark street lines as unsure: Contains data under the Norwegian licence for Open Government data (NLOD) distributed by Statens vegvesen. - Addresses: Adresser © Kartverket (addresses © Norwegian Mapping Authority), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). We use the addresses to find the street name where the road network gives none, and to mark lines with no address nearby as unsure.
